Calderdale Youth Offending Team
Calderdale Youth Offending Team is a multi-agency partnership preventing offending by working with young people, parents, victims of crime, communities and engaging volunteers.
The Youth Offending
Team is a one-stop shop for all young offenders. with teams of trained professionals
with specific disciplines work together in one office to tackle youth
offending. The YOT is composed of social workers, probation officers,
police officers, education and health workers,
housing workers and drug misuse professionals.
The YOT Manager, Stephen Toye, whose
job is to agree financing, planning and targeting of youth crime in Calderdale,
leads our team and has undergone the YJB's national training programme
which emphasises strategic partnership.
YOTs are the epitome
of joined-up management - different services tackling
offending together.
YOTs are required to produce an annual Youth Justice Plan -
2007 version available here - that
describes the nature and scale of offending by young people in their area
and the programmes available to tackle it. Several agencies
contribute to the overall budget of the YOT to tackle youth crime:
